The Dritz Home Webbing Stretcher comes handy when you have to upholster newly-built furniture or reupholster antique furniture pieces. This pack contains one webbing stretcher with an ergonomic wooden handle and measures 8 x 3 x 1 inches. Use this tool to stretch or tighten the webbing (both jute and polypropylene) that supports the cushions and bedding on sofas, chairs, ottomans and other furniture.
1. Inspect chair and determine if webbing is to be installed on underside or topside of frame.
2. Starting at the center of one side rail, fold over end of webbing. Nail in place with 5 evenly spaced #6 upholstery tacks offset slightly for strength.
3. Place stretcher under webbing against wood. Gently rock stretcher until it is at a 90 degree angle to side edge, pulling webbing as tightly as possible. Secure with 3 tacks.
4. Fold webbing back over itself 1-1/2 inch and trim. Add 2 more tacks to finish.
5. Install all the webbing in one direction. Then attach webbing in a basket-weave pattern going the opposite direction.
